Maggie Made Over!

January 30, 2026

From an idea, to shovels in the ground, to nearly reopening – Maggie Hathaway GC is just about ready forits closeup thanks to the FORE Youth: 2023 U.S. Open Community Legacy Campaign’s award-winning Maggie Renovation Project.

Publicly launched in 2023 ahead of the U.S. Open as part of the FORE Youth Campaign, the Maggie Renovation Project has brought together public and private parties for a $21 million fundraising effort to renovate the South Los Angeles golf course. The initiative tapped two-time major winner and Southern California-native, Collin Morikawa, as its honorary chairman and brought on renowned architect, Gil Hanse, for the golf course renewal.

Over the past two and half years, the project has garnered national and international attention and was recently named the winner of the inaugural IAGA Impact Award for its substantial impact on the community of golfers served and the vision and plans to support future generations.

This latest recognition is a testament to the tireless, longtime work of the SCGA and the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation team members, alongside many partners including The Los Angeles Country Club, L.A. County, the USGA, American Golf, the Western States Golf Association and many others.
