Where to Go For the Info You Need
The World Handicap System™ has its nuances and complexities … there are formulas, calculations and procedures involved! In addition, there are lots of statistics associated with handicapping, including a breakdown of where golfers fit in relation to other golfers on the Handicap Index spectrum.
The SCGA website, scga.org, has its own section dedicated to handicapping. This section, named “WHS Hub” (short for World Handicap System Hub) under the “What We Do” header, has a wealth of handicap-related information.
Do you want to know how and why your Handicap Index may have a red circle with an i-info icon indicating that you have a cap in place? Do you want to better understand the Net Double Bogey maximum hole score(hint: just post your score hole by hole and the program does it for you). How about learning about how nine-hole scores are treated or any round where 10-17 holes are played? Or maybe you want to test your handicap knowledge by taking a practice WHS™ quiz – seems like fun to me!

The USGA also does a nice job on its website, usga.org, with its own handicapping section under the “Playing” header.
Both sites provide access to the Rules of Handicapping. For some this might be scintillating reading; for others this could be a remedy for insomnia.
